SAFETY CHAMPION OF THE MONTH

Brendan Wright

Brendan started as a temp in August 2019, and it wasn’t long before the Facilities Department discovered that he would fast become an excellent employee with outstanding work ethic. A carpenter by trade, his skills have contributed to quality building maintenance, and his recent task that he volunteered to do was build wooden chocks for the wire reels. These chocks, small but strong, are wedged beneath the reel flanges and creates a wall of protection that will stop a 5,000 lb reel from rolling and hurting an employee.

Bryan Gutierrez & Luis "Wolf" Muniz

Bryan and Wolf were part of a warehouse rotation program supporting our Sulphur Branch due to the back-to-back damage caused by Hurricane Laura and Hurricane Delta. The program became an invitation to stay for over five months where they assisted with wire cuts, customer support at Will Call, stocking and receiving material from deliveries and transfers, and more. Both Louisiana and Texas branches became a strong work family.

Hector Rull

Hector is a truck driver for our CMMS Division, and when he arrives to work early in the morning, it is still dark outside. While parked at the warehouse dock, he noticed suspicious theft activity, immediately prompted his co-workers onsite to contact the Police, and recorded the event with his cell phone, all in a very calm and effective manner. Hector’s safe intervention resulted in zero property loss, and no one was hurt.
